Felipe

When I first started taking painting lessons back in 1872 1972...the best teacher I ever had made us paint with a large brush -- that way it prevented one from getting too picky, too fussy, and adding too much detail. It also forced us to finish the painting within a 3-4 hour period -- something I haven't done in many, many years -- lately it's been more like 3-4 weeks... :)

One of these days I'm just going to go wild and TRY to loosen up again. Like my friend Doug. His work is so fluid and spontaneous.

I tried to loosen up with "Felipe", and perhaps succeeded microscopically with the sky...but still, I got carried away in other areas...I think. I can't promise the next one will be a return to impressionism, but...I'd certainly like to experiment a bit.

But for now, here's Felipe, detail and all! You can click on his chest for a larger view!

Justin 2

Although Justin was received with open arms late last year, several clients kept asking if or when I would be doing Justin in a full-body pose. It took awhile...he's a big man...but here he is in all his glory.

The First Edition Print of "Justin 2" is currently up for auction. You can check him out by clicking on the "Purchase" link at the top right hand corner of the blog. You can also view a larger version by clicking on his...well, I'll let you pick your favorite part!

Hope everyone's having a great summer!

AutomoLove Show

For those of you living in or traveling to Los Angeles, I'll have a piece in a group show at the Antebellum Gallery, an 'adult' image entitled "Test Drive". My friend Doug has posted a picture of the illustration on his blog.

Some may feel I'm being a hypocrite or a prude not listing more of my adult work here, but for now I'd like to keep them separate. Some of my loyal customers and also my straight clients do not wish to view the adult pieces, which I can understand and respect.

I should really start a second blog for those pieces, but in the meantime, many thanks to Doug, and I hope you'll check out the show.

"Test Drive" will be available as a very Limited Edition Giclee Print -- only 10 available. Feel free to email me with any questions.
