Matthew...

In many places of the world the days are getting longer, and summer is just a couple of months away. Unfortunately, that's not the case here in the Emerald City, as the days are getting shorter (and wetter!).

All the more reason to celebrate the sunny days of summer, to hold onto the memories that will help get us through the coming winter months.

Matthew is something else you might want to hold onto. (That was even more awkward than my segue last month, but I'm stickin' with it for now!) A good friend commented on how he liked how I had carried forward the motif of the green foliage into the design of the tattoo. I can see that now, but I must admit it was a complete accident. Still, it's always fascinating to hear how others interpret a piece of art.

Ramon...

Not to be confused with Damon...

Trying to continue my attempt at returning to my looser style of the past (and I mean a LONG time ago), here's my latest piece, "Ramon", a portrait of a man not quite as hesitant to pose as his predecessor below.

Being a flexible sort of guy, this of course is just one of the many positions poses he can strike. Depending on his popularity over the next year, perhaps I can convince him to show us some more. Poses that is.

Damon

For months now I've been saying I'm working on trying to loosen up my style of painting. While there are other more detailed pieces in the works, I hope that DAMON here represents the beginning of a trend towards a looser style...the way I used to paint when I was a wee lad (well, maybe not "wee").

Damon is a cheeky sort, (here come the puns), he likes to show off his ass assets, and is actually a past winner of at the Golden Globes. Okay, I'll stop while I'm barely ahead.

Seriously, as I was working on this, I imagined a guy who shows up for a modeling session, but isn't quite sure how far he wants to go.
Or is he?

Tribute to David Beckham

This has been one of the toughest portraits I've ever done. David Beckham is so well known and has so many fans around the world, I knew I'd have a difficult time trying to capture that famous face.

And then there are the tattoos! I had no idea that he had so many, and he seems to be adding more all the time. I think perhaps he's a little beefier in my take on him, but hope his true essence shows through at the same time.

Not only is he arguably one of the best, if not the best soccer player in the world, but he's also a true gentleman, the father of three children, and is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. Along with many other charitible efforts, he runs the David Beckham Academy, a soccer school for children in the UK.

On top of all that, he's hot.

Man, how times flies...

I should stop by my own blog more often don't you think?

Been very busy, dealing with personal and professional issues, but should be posting a new illustration here in a few days...and another in about 2 weeks...I hope.

In the meantime, I did just post a new guy, "Jason", on the 'Raw' site. You must be over 18 to view the site, but I'm not sure how that's monitored.

My First Action Hero: SUPERHUNK !

UPDATE: After about a dozen or so suggestions via email...we decided on SUPERHUNK. A little generic, but...a title is not that important. Maybe a better name will emerge as the year goes on...?

The Legendary FRANCESCO d'MACHO... The First Edition Print!

In response to his many, many loyal fans around the world, I am so pleased to present the release of this Premier Limited Edition Print of the portrait I did for the legendary Francesco d'Macho. This is slightly different than the one I did back in 2007 -- I made some changes, and hopefully some improvements, but I'll let you be the judge -- the earlier version is posted in the May 2007 archives (and also in the banner at the top of the page).

This Premier Edition of Francesco is limited to only 30 prints. Every print is personally hand signed and numbered.

I am deeply grateful to Francesco for all his support and kindness -- he's truly a great, gracious and immensely talented man.

I've actually finished a NEW Illustration — the long awaited POOLBOY 2 -- Film at Eleven! The First Edition of this Limited Edition Print is up for auction today!

I know I keep saying I’m going to loosen up and relax my style, but each one becomes more detailed! I probably spent more time on the railings leading into the pool (and all those reflections) than any other part, although perhaps it just seemed that way.

Anyway, six weeks later...I hope it was worth the wait!

Although it started at a very low opening bid, the reserve price has already been met! It's still of course not too late to place a bid -- as long as you do so before next Sunday evening, May 17th!
